Metavallon 2nd Pre-Seed Investment Call for investment up to €200K is now open

The Venture Company Metavallon has launched its second Pre-Seed Investment Call, which is now open with a submission cut-off date on November 25th. You can submit your proposal via the website here.
The first Pre seed investment cycle was finalized in H1 2018 and saw the first investments on Speen, Useberry, Racecheck and Purposeful.

The companies that we will be investing in Pre-Seed level receive:
-  Equity investment of up to € 200.000
-  Networking to the global investor alliance Draper Venture Network with access to global customers and hundreds of corporate partners worldwide
-  Growth Training from Metavallon team and guidance through our global network of Advisors and Investors
-  Pilot opportunities with established businesses in the target technologies and industries
-  Over € 100K in perks and services from Innovation Allies, to kickstart and facilitate operations (cloud services, legal and accounting services, free co-working spaces, business SaaS)
-  Access to industry leaders through our Market Alliances for their international expansion
-  Targeted networking to corporates and investors across Europe, the U.S., and internationally
-  Talent acquisition & HR support from recruitment to operational HR
-  Metavallon ongoing commitment to support the companies in follow-on investment rounds with up to € 2.5 million.

Companies seeking for Seed Investment can also submit their investment proposals for evaluation via the website here throughout the year. Those companies would need to be at later development stage with an experienced team, a mature product and clear market traction to be considered for Seed investments.

Prepare for Crowdhackathon#fintech 3.0 in November 2018 !

The third cycle of the fintech business acceleration program is in preparation for November!
National Bank of Greece (NBG), in collaboration with Crowdpolicy technology and with the support of ecosystem operators and major companies, is organizing a 3 day Hackathon in November.
The winners will then have the opportunity to participate to the business acceleration program called" be finnovative".
Students, professionals, business executives and, more generally, anyone who wants to develop their #fintech application, concept or methodology into a sustainable business model with the prospect of succeeding in the Greek market can participate
Examples of eligible conceptsautomated customer care systems (bots), mobile payments, blockchains, Artificial Intelligence (AI) e-commerce, ticketing, marketplaces, e-invoicing, loyalty platforms, crowdfunding, banking APIs, trading platforms, large data analysis, etc. roboadvisors, customer service bots) and P2P / P2B payments.
Schedule and steps
From June 2018, the interest form for the acceleration program will be finnovative.
From September 2018, the official call for applications will be sent to Crowdhackathon #fintech 3.0.
In October 2018, open day preparation and information on Crowdhackathon Acceleration Program.
At the end of November 2018 Crowdhackathon #fintech 3.0 will be held for three days.
In January 2018, the third circle "be finnovative" Program starts.

European Fund Opportunity: Solution for launching light satellites

As part of Horizon 2020, European Comission is funding projects dedicated to design solutions for launching light satellites.
The private spaceflight company SpaceX launched two communications satellites to space Sunday (March 1) from Florida. Watch a video of the launch.
What? More precisely solutions of light-satellites launching devices into low-earth orbit, technologically non-dependent, and enabling low-cost launch.
Why? Develop space solutions to better answer global and societal challenges (climate change, disaster management, security threats, ...). It will accompany the envisionned exponential development of light satellites between 2020 and 2025. 
Who? All legal entitites (natural or legal persons, including international organisations) from EU Member States.
When? The call was published in June 2018 and will end in June 2021.


European Fund Opportunity: Principal Investigator Researcher

As part of Horizon 2020, European Comission is funding established research leaders with record of research achievments
What? More precisely advanced grants of 2500 000 euros for a period of 5 years for researchers with ground- breaking, ambitious and feasable scientific projects.
Who? Active researchers with a track record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years (different possibilities to assess this activity). Must be willing to carry on their project within  a EU member state (or Horizon 2020 associated country: institutions such CERN, EMBL, ...).
When? The call was published in May 2018 and will end in August 2018.


European Fund Opportunity: Blockchain for social good

As part of Horizon 2020, European Comission is funding scalable innovation challenges leveraging Distributed Ledger Technology (such as the one used in  blockchains)
What? More precisely advanced grants of 1 000 000 euros for innovation using DLT in its public and open form to share, store and secure transactions or data (involving fewer intermediaries).
Why? In the wake of public attention for bitcoin, to try to go further by generating positive social change through decentralisation and desintermediation. 
Examples: demonstrating the origin of materials, supporting fair monetization of labour, e-administration, political processes, decentralized platforms, property management, ...
Who? Natural or legal persons without restriction of origin and presenting their source codes in Open Source Licences.
When? The call was published in May 2018 and will end in September 2019.


European Fund Opportunity: Innovative Batteries for E-vehicles

As part of Horizon 2020, European Comission is funding the development of safe and sustainable batteries for e-vehicles.  
What? More precisely 10 000 000  euros for electric vehicles batteries through the development of new materials and chemistries using low cost materials, easily available in Europe and requiring about the same time as gasoline-tank filling.
Why? To foster innovation in energy storage technologies, enhance european e-vehicles manufacturing, and encourage electro-mobility.
Who? Natural or legal persons from a EU member state or a country associated to Horizon 2020.
When? The call was published in February 2018 and will end in December 2020.


European Fund Opportunity: Grants for frontier research

As part of Horizon 2020, European Comission and European Research Council (ERC) are financing Research works.

What? Different kinds of grants :
- ERC Starting grants: grants up to 1.500.000 for 5 years for promising early career researchers with 2 to 7 years of experience after PHD.
- ERC Consolidator grants: grants up to 2.000.000 for 5 years for excellent researchers with7 to 12 years experience after PHD.
- ERC Advance Grants: grants up to 2.500.000 for 5 years for established research leaders with recognised track record of research achievments.
- ERC Proof of Concept: grants up to 150.000 for existing ERC grant holders to bring their research ideas closer to market.
- ERC Synergy Grants: grants up to 10.000.000 for 6 years to adress ambitious research questions which can be answered only through coordinated work of small of 2-4 investigators.
- Additional Opportunities: for researchers who want to work with ERC grantees team.
Why? To support talented scientist producing excellence.
Who? Researchers of any nationality with at least 2-7 years of experience since completion of PHD, from any field of research, conducting research in public or private research organisation in EU member state or an associated country to Horizon 2020.
Before applying: contact your host institution and gather all the details, review your draft with different actors.
When? Deadline for Proof of Concept September 2018, for Advance Grants August 2018.

Access 4 SMEs is a European Program funded by Horizon 2020. It gathers a network of National Contact Points for SMEs. This network helps SMEs:

- to have access to finance opportunities

- to develop tools to assist SMEs with expertise on growth strategy and value proposition

-to identify the success factors for SMEs.

In Greece, FORTH, the Foundation for Research and Technology, is the National Contact point. It will take part as a Stakeholder to the support to SMES, communicate and disseminate Information for this program of the EU.
